Hometown: Harbin, China

How long have you worked at LFS/UBC?

5 years at LFS, 9 years at UBC

Let’s talk work…

Describe what you do for LFS:

General financial operation, faculty budget planning, and I contribute to strategic decision-making.

What are you currently working on?

The procurement modernization project with UBC Financial Operation.

What do you enjoy the most about working for LFS?

I like the overall working environment here, everyone is friendly and always supportive.

What challenge have you dealt with that you are most proud of?

During 2015/16 Financial Year, we developed and implemented a new budget model. It took us a while to roll the new model out, but at the same time it was a good opportunity for us to learn about each program/unit. I’m glad to see the new model helped the faculty regain a healthy financial position.

Let’s get personal…

How do you like to recharge?

Walking, watching movies or Asian drama series.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Time travel would be cool – either travel to the past to actually witness history, or to the future to see what the world is like.

What was a favourite vacation or trip you’ve taken?

I had a summer job in a travel agency back to 1997, and earned my first trip to Beijing.

What was the last book you read?

Love in a Fallen City by Eileen Chang

What’s one thing your co-workers don’t know about you?

I studied drawing for many years when I was a student. I’m hoping I can pick it up again some time in the future.
