Congratulations to Tebogo Leepile – UBC 3MT winner! 


Huge congratulations to Tebogo (Tebby) Leepile, PhD candidate (Integrated Studies in Land and Food Systems) who won first place in UBC Vancouver’s 3 Minute Thesis Competition yesterday. Next up, Tebby will represent the university in the Western Regional Competitions in May. Her supervisors are Eduardo Jovel and Crystal Karakochuk, and her research talk was on the prevalence of anemia among San women and young children in rural Botswana. She also recently won first place in the 2021 Global Health Conference at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute for her oral presentation addressing the same topic.

Canadian Agricultural Economics Society Awards – Call for Nominations

The Canadian Agricultural Economics Society (CAES) recognizes the outstanding contributions of its members through its awards program. The program inspires professional excellence among students, early career professionals, and experienced members. A number of the awards have had their deadlines extended.

UNDERGRADUATE BOOK PRIZE
The “CAES Book Prize” is intended to recognize and encourage the achievement of undergraduate students in their study and application of agricultural, food or resource economics, or farm management, or related fields of study at the undergraduate level. Eligibility is limited to full-time students majoring or with a strong program emphasis in agricultural, food, or resource economics, or farm management at any Canadian university. Nominations must be made in writing by the chair of the department, or equivalent officer. One nomination (the winner) is accepted per institution. Nominations must include the winner’s full name, permanent mailing address, and the reason for his/her selection. Submit nominations to Sylvanus Kwaku Afesorgbor at safesorg@uoguelph.ca by June 1, 2021.
