Teaching Theory Tuesday

Seek out cues that indicate students may be confused.
Notice patterns in the kinds of questions students ask you. Pay attention to trends in student submissions that show misunderstanding or miscommunication. Take quick action via an announcement, clarification video, or email to the class. Help students get back on track and stay there.”
– Darby & Lang, 2019, Small Teaching Online, p. 45

Brought to you from the Learning Centre.

Termination of Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Service

Collaborate Ultra will be discontinued at UBC on April 30, 2021 and will no longer be available for use. Classes starting in summer session 2021 (2021S1) can use Zoom instead to run synchronous virtual classroom activities.

Access to Collaborate Ultra recordings will end on July 31, 2021. If you need to keep any of your recordings, please download them before July 31. Once downloaded, they can be uploaded to Kaltura (a video-streaming platform within Canvas) for re-use. It is recommended to do this as soon as possible to ensure you have adequate time to save your recordings.

You can follow CTLT’s step-by-step Collaborate Ultra transition guide to learn how to save your recordings, upload them to Kaltura, and get started with Zoom.
