LFS Today May 6, 2021

REMINDER: Final Grades are DUE (or past-due)

Reminder to all instructors to be mindful of grade submission deadlines for term 2 courses; as per the FSC User Guide, page 16, grades are due 7 business days after exam date, unless the exam occurs within last 2 days of the exam period – then, the grades are due within 5 calendar days.  Adherence to these deadlines is critical for processing of graduation applications, sessional evaluations, award adjudications, etc. Also, if you are supervising students with any outstanding Directed Studies, Undergrad Thesis, practicum, etc. please be sure to have those grades submitted to students@landfood.ubc.ca.

ALL grades should be posted to students’ files or sent to LFS Student Services no later than Thursday, May 6, 2021.

‘Change of Grade’ forms for when grades need to be changed can be generated via the FSC and sent as an attachment to students@landfood.ubc.ca.

If you are emailing Student Services directly with a request to update or post a grade, please include all of the following details:

  1. Student name
  2. Student number
  3. Course name & number
  4. Session when the course was completed
  5. Previous grade (if applicable)
  6. New grade

Thank you for your cooperation.  Please do not hesitate to contact Student Services (students@landfood.ubc.ca) with any questions.

Lunch & Learn Series: Featuring Candice Rideout

Lunch & Learn: Engaging in Thoughtful Reflection on Student Evaluations of Teaching to Improve Course Design and Teaching Practice with Candice Rideout

This session will be held on Friday, May 7, at noon

The feedback students provide on end-of-term Student Evaluations of Teaching (SEoT) surveys can be tremendously valuable – but reading (and interpreting) SEoT reports can be hard. In this session, we will briefly review some of the literature regarding SEoT surveys (including some potential sources of bias), discuss our own experiences with SEoT surveys, and consider practical strategies to help us review SEoT feedback in order to determine appropriate specific strategies to improve course design.

Consider bringing your most recent SEoT reports, to review them in a supportive environment. To register for this session, please visit https://ubc.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5cscumsqDwrG9OI5NHXco_FeqnmI0pzdWM1
