Yes, they receive 4% vacation pay in their pay cheques.
Can staff carry over vacation time?
Depending on your employee group, typically most staff can carry over 10 business days into the new year. Carrying over more than 10 days is permitted if you provide the following to LFS HR (Mindy Li, HR Specialist, mindy.li@ubc.ca) by October 31st.
- Rationale for why you are unable to use your vacation time.
- Written consent from your supervisor.
- Plan for using your excess vacation time by the end of February/March.
If approved, staff must input the future dated vacation time by the end of November. Reminders will be sent out in LFS Today at the beginning of October.
What is the vacation carryover allowed for Staff employees?
A maximum of 10 business days is allowed. Carrying over more than 10 days is permitted if you provide rationale in advance and have written consent from your supervisor. You must agree to use your excess vacation by either the end of January/February/March, depending on how excessive it is. For further discussion, please contact Mona Lee or Barbara Hsiao.
