Apr. 22 – Summer Internships at the xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden at UBC Farm

The Indigenous Research Partnership at the Faculty of Land and Food System invites applications for internship positions at xʷcic̓əsəm: Indigenous Health Research and Education Garden.

The internship is based at xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden at UBC Farm and collectively led by a group of Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers, community members, students, and Indigenous Faculty. Interns participate in ongoing research projects with faculty, graduate students, and community members. They participate in planning, designing, and implementing pilot-scale research projects; and assist in data collection using qualitative and quantitative methods and Indigenous methodologies. Students learn about Indigenous research, frameworks, research methodologies, land-based pedagogies, research ethics, and Indigenous Community protocols for reciprocal and productive community engagement.

Apr. 24 – IDRC Research Award Recipient Opportunities

IDRC offers this year research awards related to these development areas or themes: Climate-Resilient Food Systems, Democratic and Inclusive Governance, Education and Science, Ethics in Development Research, Global Health, Policy and Evaluation, and Sustainable Inclusive Economies.

The research awards application process for 2022 has reopened for the awards listed below.

  • Research Award Recipient – Advisory Committee on Research Ethics
  • Research Award Recipient – Democratic and Inclusive Governance
  • Research Award Recipient – Policy and Evaluation

If your research proposal is selected, you will join IDRC as a Research award recipient for a period of 12 months from May 2022 to 30 April 2023 with a salary in Canadian dollars between CA$42,033 to CA$48,659 to undertake research on the topic you have submitted. You will receive hands-on experience in research and program management and support, grant administration, and the creation, dissemination, and use of knowledge from an international perspective.

May 27 – Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Seed Program

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Seed Program provides graduate research assistant support, collegial collaborations, and funding for SoTL projects. Selected projects will incorporate research on teaching in higher education with a potential for strategic contributions to the UBC community and beyond.

All members of the UBC community are invited to apply by May 27, 2022.
