Vote in Canada’s Top 25 Lawyer competition

Dana-Lyn Mackenzie has been nominated as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada for her work at UBC. As Senior Manager of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigeneity, Dana-Lyn been amplifying Indigenous voices and EDI issues across UBC, and supporting the education of students, faculty and staff. She is cross-appointed in the faculties of Applied Science and Land and Food Systems. Let’s show our support for Dana-Lyn by voting!

The Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers list is managed by Canadian Lawyer magazine and recognizes those who have played a significant role in the legal profession and Canadian and international society in the last 18 months. Results come out in the September issue.

Event Name: HOLI 2022
Event Type: AMS – Ticketed event
Organization: UTSAV – UBC Indian Students’ Association
Event Date & Time: Sat. April 30 from 11am – 4pm
Setup Date & Time: Fri. April 29 from 3pm – 10pm and Sat. April 30 from 6am – 11am
Participants: (maximum): 4000 participants
Purpose: To celebrate the festival of colours – Holi. It is a religious Indian festival that is celebrated to worship Goddess Holika.
Details: 

  • DJ – family friendly lyrics
  • Sound system – decibel levels monitored throughout
  • Sound check to start at 9:30am on Sat. April 30.
  • First aid will be onsite
  • Colour powder to be smeared and not thrown
  •  Request for general parking will be redirected to another parking lot.
  • Campus Security to be on site
  • UBC Building Operations to clean up the parking lot immediately following the event
  • 2 food trucks to be on site
  • Alcohol will be not be served
  • Soft barricades on Agronomy Road with Traffic Control personnel to ensure no vehicles stop or offload for event and local traffic can flow freely

Apr. 29 – Food Costing Volunteer Opportunity with BCCDC

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), is recruiting student volunteers to help collect data for Food Costing in BC 2022 taking place from May 30th – June 10th, 2022.

This is a great opportunity for those seeking volunteer experiences relevant to public health and food security. Some students may have already seen a similar opportunity from Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) for in-person food costing. This opportunity is for online food costing which can be done from anywhere in BC.

May 16 – Sustainability Education Grants

Sustainability Education Grants provide funding for Vancouver faculty members looking to advance and diversify sustainability education opportunities for students across campus in all disciplines.

Funding supports curriculum development centred on transformative learning that incorporates experiential, applied and/or interdisciplinary sustainability education principles. We encourage applications that look to inspire and empower students in the themes of Climate, Biodiversity, Resilient Communities and the Circular Economy.

Applications are now open for funding of up to $10,000 per year, for up to two years. Apply by May 16 to begin work on your sustainability curriculum project in September 2022.
