Farewell Amanda Reaume!

Please join the DAE team in wishing Amanda Reaume best wishes as she leaves UBC in May to begin her next chapter. Over the past eight years with LFS, Amanda focused on fundraising for the UBC Farm in addition to other faculty priorities. Donors will fondly remember her exceptional farm tours and hosting memorable meals alfresco in the UBC Farm field. We will miss her famous homemade jam! We wish her all the best as she starts a new career in tech marketing.  Amanda’s last day with UBC is May 2. Please drop by the Dean’s office to sign the card.

Our team also invites you to MacMillan 3rd floor staff lunchroom for some light refreshments this Wednesday afternoon between 3:30-4:30pm to wish her the best.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Adding email addresses to Safe Sender List on Outlook

Are you noticing emails from your non-UBC senders are ending up in your Junk mailbox? At times, some of these emails can end up in your Junk folder due to the way the email is worded. To ensure these emails from your frequently contacting senders are not affected, you can add them to the safe senders list.

The shortest way to add them is to open an email from the sender and find the grey banner at the top that says “To always show content from this sender, click here.” By clicking on the link, the senders are added to the safe sender list and any content in the email is unblocked. Please note that this disables some security functions on your emails and should not be done for senders you do not know well.

For more information, contact the LFS Learning Centre at it@landfood.ubc.ca.

May 10 – Looking into the Future: Hybridity and Technology

This event is part of the 2022 Celebrate Learning Week.

The pandemic pushed faculties and students into a world of teaching and learning that increasingly weaves online and in-person learning and re-envisions the needs for the use of learning technologies. Please join our panelists from the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Education to explore the possible directions of designing for learning in terms of the hybridization of courses and technology use. Our panelists bring their unique views and specific needs (e.g. large vs small courses, professional training and practice, pedagogical considerations) from these Faculties. We also invite the audience to join in the discussion with their perspectives, questions, and commentaries.

Moderator:

  • Simone Hausknecht, Learning Designer, Faculty of Education

Panelists:

  • Cyprien Lomas, Director, The Learning Centre, Faculty of Land and Food Systems
  • Gary Rosborough, Senior Manager, ED Tech, Faculty of Medicine
