Call for interest in Dimensions review committee

The UBC Dimensions project team would like to share the call for expressions of interest to join the Dimensions review committee by the federal Dimensions program team.

Note: The call of interest is for UBC scholars, administrators and professionals who have not participated in the development of the UBC Dimensions application. In the case that there are no reviewers from UBC on the review panel, a UBC representative will be invited by the federal Dimensions team to sit in as an observer.

Call of interest:

As you know, on September 23, the program will be accepting the first applications from institutions that were part of the cohort to be recognized for their efforts advancing the state of EDI in their research communities. The Dimensions team has considered concerns about the perception of conflict of interest in the peer review process. The selected approach is that individuals at cohort institutions that will not apply for recognition, or individuals who were not involved in their institution’s application process can submit an expression of interest.

Furthermore, to promote learning as part of the review process, cohort institutions that are not represented on the review committee will be invited to committee meetings as observers.

The Dimensions review committee will assess the applications received and provide constructive feedback to help institutions continue to make change.

Expressions of interest from across the postsecondary research sector are encouraged, including:

  • Scholars who have lived experience as a member of one or more of the five equity-deserving groups of Dimensions;
  • Scholars who have expertise in academic studies related to understanding inequity and exclusion in society, and in the higher education context in particular;
  • Administrators and professionals with lived experience as a member of one or more of the five equity-deserving groups of Dimensions;
  • Administrators and professionals who have experience or expertise related to efforts to address EDI in the postsecondary research sector.

Meetings will be held virtually by video conference. Accessible format selection will occur in consultation with the successful candidates once the committee has been established.

Questions may be directed to DimensionsEDI@nserc-crsng.gc.ca.

Weather and Thermal Stress Safety

Following last summer’s heat dome—when the atmosphere traps hot ocean air like a lid or cap, UBC has taken steps to plan for extreme heat events. Given the current high temperatures, we wanted to provide some resources and information to help you and your loved ones stay cool and safe. Visit the Weather and Thermal Stress Safety page for the most updated information about UBC’s on-campus cooling centres.
