UBC Botanical Garden Christmas Tree Recycling

The UBC Botanical Garden will again host its annual tree-chipping service and collect donations for a local school’s garden project.

Date: December 26, 2020 – January 10, 2021
Time: 10am – 2pm
Cost: $5 minimum suggested donation
More info.

Proceeds directly support Thunderbird Elementary, a school with a high percentage of vulnerable students. Garden lessons, provided by SPEC (Society Promoting Environmental Conservation), provide students the opportunity to observe, learn and connect to their natural world through engaging hands-on activities in their school garden.

How to recycle your tree:

  1.  Please remove all decorations and tinsel.
  2.  A suggested minimum donation of $5 is appreciated.
  3.  Drop off your tree at UBC Botanical Garden. Follow the signs and place your tree behind the orange posts. They will be chipped into mulch and used on garden trails.
  4. No yard trimmings – invasive plants from other areas can harm the Garden.
