WorkDay Tip of the Week

While the UBC community gets accustomed to Workday, you may find yourself with some questions on navigating the new system. Each week we’ll present a new ‘Tip of the Week’ for the most common questions people have.

As the holidays near and people go on “vacation,” please remember to set up your delegations if you’ll be unavailable for a certain amount of time.

This week’s tip answers: How do I delegate inbox tasks? Read on to find out how to delegate all inbox items or only inbox items belonging to a specific type.

Random Acts of Recognition

Congratulations to Random Acts of Recognition recipients:

Edmund Seow, who is always there to support the Student Services team when they need to update their technology to keep services running! For the past two months (at least!) Edmund has been advocating for Student Services to get access to programs that would expedite processes and alleviate some of the administrative strain on the team. We know this takes a lot of time and effort on his end, and we appreciate him! THANK YOU EDMUND! May your holiday season be free of glitches and filled with high-speed interne… I mean, time with family!

Duncan McHugh, who always says yes when approached with a new project. Duncan played a huge part behind-the-scenes of the virtual LFS Holiday Café this year, contributing to its success with his presentation slides and music. He also designed the Faculty’s holiday card, featuring artwork from an alumni. Thanks Duncan!

The faculty presenters at the LFS Holiday Café: Gurcharn Brar, Matias Margulis, Risa Sargent, Tamara Cohen and Thorsten Knipfer. Presenting your complex research in six minutes is no easy feat, but you accepted without hesitation! Thank you for your time and hard work! We’re all looking forward to the amazing things you’ll accomplish at UBC.

To nominate a faculty member, staff or graduate student that’s been doing an outstanding job or has gone above and beyond in some way, send an email to lfs.recognition@ubc.ca and tell us why this person should be recognized. We’ll send them a $6 Starbucks gift card and acknowledge their good work in LFS Today.

Faculty Members – Join the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Adjudication Panel

The planning committee for the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate 3 Minute Thesis (3MT), funded by the UBC PURE Award is looking for faculty members to join their adjudication panel.  A 3MT is an excellent opportunity for students to practice their research communication and gain exposure to undergraduate research at UBC.  Adjudicators will provide 5-8 students with individual, written feedback, and will participate in a Zoom Adjudication Event on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. It will only take a few hours of time to help advance undergraduate research communication! Visit their website for more details and contact ubc@3mt.ca if you have any questions or are interested in participating.
