July 12 – Farm Foundation & CAPI Webinar: Agriculture & Food Security

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has created increased pressure on global food systems, limiting supply and driving up prices of many key foodstuffs. However, pressure on global food systems was already significant, driven by rising demand and production challenges around the world.

This global challenge requires local solutions, with food producers being called on to find sustainable ways to meet growing global demand. This webinar will explore current dynamics within the global food system and consider what policy solutions could be implemented in Canada, the United States and around the world.

July 28 – Indigenous Strategic Initiatives (ISI): Special Fund for Graduate Research

This one-time-only Special Fund is for graduate-level students to fund research that advances any of the Indigenous Strategic Plan’s (ISP) 43 actions.

Aug. 5 – Strengthening the Capacities of Science Granting Councils in Gender and Inclusion – call for project proposals

The goal of the project on Gender Equality and Inclusivity, to be funded under this call by the new SGCI partnerships involving IDRC, the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), is to reinforce the capacity of science granting councils to mainstream gender and inclusivity into science, technology and innovation.

The SGCI’s ongoing work on gender, equality and inclusion will be deepened and councils will be supported to implement the knowledge and lessons gained during the two phases of SGCI initiatives (SGCI-1 and SGCI-2). Achieving this goal could include work in three broad areas: promoting (i) the equality and status of women in research environments; (ii) diversity and inclusivity beyond gender equality in research environments; and (iii) the sex, gender and inclusivity dimension in research design and content.
