Welcome New Faculty!

We’d like to welcome a number of new faculty as of July 1. All were previously appointed in LFS and have now been appointed to the following new roles:

  • Andrea Frommel, Assistant Professor (tenure track) and Chair in Sustainable Aquaculture in the Applied Biology Program  
  • John Dupuis, Lecturer in the Food Nutrition and Health Program
  • Elizabeth Novak, Lecturer in the Food Nutrition and Health Program
  • Duff Roberts, joint Lecturer with LFS (Food Nutrition and Health Program) and Forestry (Department of Forestry and Conservation Sciences)

Killam Accelerator Research Fellowships & Faculty Research Awards

We are happy to advise that nominations are now open for the annual UBC Faculty Research Awards and for the Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship (KARF). These awards acknowledge research excellence across all disciplines at UBC.

Recognition at the university level can lead to increased opportunity at a national and international level. We also strongly encourage you to consider equity, diversity and inclusion principles in your nominations.

Submission process for 2021:

  • Submit a Notice of Intent by August 6 (not requested for the KARF)
  • Final submissions for all awards must be made online by October 15

The Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship is offered in partnership between the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation and the Offices of the Provost and Vice President, Academic on the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

UBC Collaborative Research Mobility Awards (CRMA)

The UBC Collaborative Research Mobility Awards (CRMA) program provides up to $5000 to support new or existing research partnerships between UBC researchers in the Okanagan and Vancouver. Faculty members from all disciplines are invited to apply. Funding may be used to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with meetings, accessing specialized equipment, or other partnership activities.
 
The application deadline is August 52021 with additional application rounds every three months as public health orders allow.
