Kelleen Wiseman awarded 2022 Sustainability Education Grant

Congratulations to Kelleen Wiseman on receiving a 2022 Sustainability Education Grant for her project, Case-based Learning on the topic of Sustainability in the Agri-Food and Environment Sector. The objective of the project is to increase students’ awareness of the importance of integrating sustainability into the core business economic principles that are used to study the Agri‐Food and Environment sector.

New agreement with University of Life Sciences in Poland

LFS signed a Statement of Cooperation with the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland to collaborate on education, research and capacity building. Under the five-year agreement, both universities will encourage teaching staff mobility, faculty members exchange, and joint research.

Today – Lunch & Learn Series: Jamovi Statistics Software with Brandon Oh

The next formal Lunch & Learn session will be held on Friday, July 8th 2022 at noon (PT). Brandon Ho Seok Oh (Programmer Analyst, LFS Learning Centre) will lead the discussion this week.

Jamovi is a free, open-source statistics application built on the R statistical language. It is similar to statistical software such as Minitab and SPSS.

In this session, Brandon will introduce the software and talk about his experience with developing a Design-of-Experiment (DoE) module in Jamovi for use in an FNH course. The session will focus on the following topics:

  • What is Jamovi?
  • Why did Brandon choose Jamovi?
  • Demonstration of Jamovi with a simple dataset
  • DoE module developed for Food Science

Sept. 4 – Job Posting: Deputy Director/Director Clinical Nutrition Research Centre, Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI)

A*STAR is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director/Director for the Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC). Set up as a joint venture with the National University of Singapore, CNRC is an integral part of the newly established SIFBI. The applicant will be an accomplished scientist with extensive peer reviewed publications and will be responsible in leading the conduct of clinical trials to meet regulatory and product registration requirements. Importantly, the candidate will engage in multidisciplinary and collaborative research to drive nutrition projects from ideation-to-product/ process realization and ultimately commercialization, leveraging on SIFBI’s other capability groups such as food process engineering, biotransformation, and discovery.
