Mar. 18 – SOIL Seminar: The Use of Biochar for Agricultural Climate Change Adaptation

Title: The Use of Biochar for Agricultural Climate Change Adaptation: Study Design and Methods
Speaker: Morgan Hamilton, M.Sc. student in Soil Science (co-supervisors JT Cornelis & Maja Krzic)
Date & Time: Friday, March 18, 2022, 3:00 pm
Location: MCML 154

Bio: Morgan’s first career was in the hospitality industry where her interest in dining and ingredients led her towards thinking about seasonality and eventually towards agriculture and soil. Morgan graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc in Global Resource Systems, during which time she started working with BC Seed Trials and first developed an interest in research, which was then strengthened during her time with the Sustainable Agricultural Landscapes Lab and supported by many members of that lab to pursue her own research!  Morgan is now a Master’s student in the SoilRes3 lab under the supervision of JT Cornelis and Maja Krzic.  She is looking at the role that biochar can play in strengthening local agricultural landscapes in the face of climate change. Her research will examine the effect of biochar to support drought tolerance.

Join us in-person in MCML 154 (Morgan will be presenting in-person)
Or via Zoom – register in advance for this meeting: https://ubc.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5MvduurrT4oHNF6SJLdx8V34tYVfePOWLyj
