UBC Community Food Hub Project: Addressing food insecurity on campus

The UBC Community Food Hub is a project supported through the Campus as a Living Lab Initiative and is critical to support the vision of a food secure campus that promotes overall well-being. This research project (Ethics ID #H21-00641) intends to engage the UBC campus community to identify resources, support services, programming, and facilities to support a food secure campus community at UBC.

The UBC Community Food Hub will allow people inclusive and dignified access to healthy food in a way that is place-based, social, and empowering. Community Food Hubs value the right to food, building community through food, and supporting the local food system.

What does the UBC Community Food Hub aim to achieve?
The UBC Community Food Hub aims to create opportunities for students to gather and advocate for change, access holistic support services, and lead initiatives to improve campus-based food security.

How can you support the Community Food Hub Project?
UBC faculty members such as yourself and staff play an important role in disseminating information to students. Therefore, I would like you to forward this email to all teaching faculty in your network so they can consider letting one of our team members give a brief talk (for 3-5 minutes) at the beginning or end of a lecture. For your reference, I have attached the informational slide deck that would be presented by us.
