Crystal Karakochuk Receives New Investigator Partnership Prize

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Crystal Karakochuk on receiving a New Investigator Partnership Prize, as part of the Career Recognition Awards, from the Canadian Nutrition Society! See the announcement here.

This award is presented by the CNS and the Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes.

Also, Kaitlyn L.I. Samson (MSc Human Nutrition ’20) and Adelia Jacobs (current MSc student in Human Nutrition) are finalists for awards that will be presented at the CNS Annual Virtual Conference. Kaitlyn is a finalist for the ‘Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee Award Finalist / Christine Gagnon Memorial Travel Award‘, and Adelia is a finalist for the ‘Nutrigraphic Award Competition.’

The LFS|US EDI Subcommittee invites you to their very first event: Understanding the Different Contexts of Food Sovereignty Work.

On Thursday, April 1st, from 5-6 pm PST, Join Dr. Hannah Wittman, LFS Professor and Meeru Dhalwala, LFS Advisory Board member, to gain a deeper understanding of various food sovereignty work and the interconnections among them followed by a Q+A. Let’s Get Quizzical: UBC Giving Day Edition

Join us on Wednesday April 7 at 7:00pm PST as we celebrate our first university-wide UBC Giving Day over a friendly – yet competitive – night of trivia!

The UBC community will come together and face-off in a battle of wits to compete for first place over four rounds of high-stakes trivia. In honour of UBC, the game will feature special UBC-themed rounds so be prepared to show off your UBC mastery with pride. Compete for bragging rights – and prizes!

The night will be hosted by UBC alumnus Mike Whitaker, BA’08, the professional quizmaster behind Vancouver’s premier pub trivia company, IQ 2000. Mike will be joined by current UBC students Tiffany Lee, 5th Year UBC Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Management Student, and President of the Student Alumni Council, and Ahmed Masood 2nd Year UBC Bachelor of Kinesiology Student.
