Sustainable Fridays – Go by Bike Week

Monday, May 30 to Sunday, June 5

Whether you’re a regular cyclist or a novice, Go by Bike Week (formerly known as Bike to Work Week) is a great way to get healthy while reducing your carbon footprint. This event takes place twice every year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

Lab2Market (L2M) is a 4-month program designed to help researchers across Canada to take their idea to market.

Lab2Market and NSERC have partnered to deliver our newest node L2M-NSERC, which is an adaptation of NSERC’s Idea to Innovation (I2I) Market Assessment Program. If you are a graduate student (Masters or PhD), or postdoctoral fellow across Canada with a big idea related to your research, the Lab2Market program will help support your entrepreneurial journey.

May 26 – Teaching Philosophy Statements: Show me the Good Stuff

A teaching philosophy statement is a written description of your values, goals, and beliefs about teaching and learning. It is often required as part of your documentation for tenure and promotion and in applications for academic positions.

In this session, participants will explore what constitutes an effective teaching philosophy statement, and review and discuss strong examples. We will pay special attention to statements of beliefs and evidence and alignment between the two.

May 24 – Job Posting: Limited Term Faculty (LTF) Position in Nutrition (Toronto Metropolitan University)

Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the School of Nutrition in the Faculty of Community Services at Toronto Metropolitan University [formerly Ryerson University] invites applications for a Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in areas of Nutrition and Dietetics. The appointment shall be effective August 1, 2022, for a one-year term, subject to final budgetary approval.

June 15 – UBC Health Collaborative Health Enrichment Activities – Call for Proposals

On Monday, May 16, UBC Health will open the call for proposals for Collaborative Health Enrichment Activities funding.

They are offering up to $2,000 per year, to a maximum of $6,000 over three years, to faculty members at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan to support the development and delivery of a collaborative health learning opportunity.

Enrichment activities help build capacity for learning that prepares students for interprofessional practice. They offer students the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to work interprofessionally and learn about patient and community perspectives. UBC Health supports health programs to advance interprofessional and collaborative practice by hosting a Canvas site to share information about elective collaborative health activities available to students and facilitate registration.

The deadline to submit a proposal is June 15, 2022.
