ADVISORY: Critical Zoom vulnerabilities

UBC Cybersecurity has become aware of critical vulnerabilities that Zoom patched last week. A successful exploitation of these flaws made it possible for hackers to execute zero-click attacks that remotely ran malicious code on devices running the messaging software. More information can be found at https://cc.cybersecurity.ubc.ca/?p=9562.

You can update your Zoom installation by signing into the Zoom desktop client, then click on your profile picture followed by Check for Updates. Zoom will install any updates it finds.

Learning Centre managed computers need to use the ManageEngine agent on their machines to perform this update. Start the Self Service Portal, look for Zoom and Update. You will need to be connected to the UBC VPN, instructions for ManageEngine can be found here, https://lc.landfood.ubc.ca/desktop-central-self-service-portal/.

Please contact the Learning Centre if you have any questions or concerns, it@landfood.ubc.ca.
