Return to Campus Town Hall Sessions

From: Andrew Szeri, Provost and Vice-President Academic, UBC Vancouver

Dear colleagues,

As we plan for significantly enhanced academic activity by September, the university continues to work hard to ensure that the campus is indeed safe to resume in-person instruction and scholarly activity. To help us prepare for fall, I want to hear your concerns so that the UBC planning teams can address issues to the very best of their abilities. Your confidence in our safety planning is crucial.

As such, my office has arranged a series of town halls to listen and later to respond to your concerns. The first series of town halls will be primarily listening sessions. Following the listening sessions, we have scheduled two follow-up sessions that will allow us to respond more thoroughly to the questions, issues and ideas raised in the earlier sessions. To have as broad a reach as possible, we will be recording the follow-up sessions.

Session Registration
These sessions, which are open to all faculty and staff who work in the Vancouver Faculties, will be conducted via Zoom, and registration is required. Additional sessions may be added, as needed.

Written questions may also be submitted ahead of time, via the Zoom registration form or to: provost.office@ubc.ca

We look forward to hosting these interactive sessions, and providing the corresponding information and reassurances regarding our collective efforts to ensure the safety of our campus in the fall.

In the meantime, please refer to the Restart 2.0 Plan provided by the province, outlining the four-step plan in bringing BC back together. Additionally, here is a link to the recent Post-secondary town hall with Dr. Bonnie Henry, hosted by Thompson Rivers University. And, finally, a link to the COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Primer, which was produced by BC Post-Secondary Institutions with the support of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.
