Happy News from LFS Student Services!

We are happy to share that Bonita Perko, Academic Advisor, is expecting her first baby in the new year!  We are so excited to meet the little guy.  Bonita’s last day is scheduled to be Friday, January 7.  To support this transition, we will be hiring a mat leave replacement who will join our team in early January – please see the job posting announcement below for details.  Congratulations, Bonita!

New Workday Expiry Notifications

On September 20, Workday began to notify employees of training that expired in 60 days so that they could re-take any necessary training before it expired. They would have received an email indicating which training was set to expire in 60 days. If employees allow the training to expire without re-taking it, then Workday will notify them and their supervisor via email on the same day indicating that the training record has expired.

Building Ventilation and Safety Measures

UBC Facilities continues to add more information and updates on building ventilation. Please review the new updated website at your next meeting. It is important that staff is reminded that with high vaccination rates and the implementation of primary controls like daily health assessments, staying home if you’re sick and proper hand/respiratory hygiene, UBC workplaces are low risk for the transmission of COVID-19.

Sustainable Friday

Your sustainability tip of the week is

Keep a tidy lab space – a clean work station sets the tone in your office/lab. It also makes things easier to find and can keep everyone safe.

Do you have a sustainability tip to share with your colleagues? Send it to mcm-lst@lists.ubc.ca and lfs.today@ubc.ca! Tips can cover a range of settings, from lab work to your community to working from home.
