IBPOC STEM Network

If you are an IBPOC Woman (including both cis and trans identities) or an IBPOC non-binary person within a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field at UBC, you are invited to join an ongoing virtual networking series in which you will have the opportunity to build community with other IBPOC women.

There will be four sessions over this year. Each session will have a specific theme but all IBPOC Women (i.e. Faculty, Staff, Post-doctoral Fellows and Graduate students) are invited to all the sessions. Each event will include small break-out ice-breaker activities for people to meet each other and will be followed by an informal discussion with three panelists and an opportunity for question and answer discussion. We expect each session to last 1-1.5 hours and each session will run on Thursdays between 2:00-3:30 pm.

Learn more here and/or register for the series using this link.

Dates and topics:

  • October 28, 2:00-3:30 pm –  Supportive ecosystems for graduate students and post-docs
  • November 25, 2:00-3:30 pm – Secrets to thriving and belonging as a junior faculty member
  • February 10, 2:00-3:30 pm – Navigating the minority tax and the glass ceiling as a tenured faculty member
  • March 24, 2:00-3:30 pm  – Rewarding staff careers within the academy but outside of a faculty position

Join the TBC@UBC Network to Advance Team-Based Care

UBC Health is pleased to invite you to join the new TBC@UBC Network, which has launched to support the team-based primary healthcare transformation in BC with education, research, evaluation, and knowledge translation.

Consider joining the TBC@UBC Network if you are:

  • working to affect health systems transformation and implement team-based models of care;
  • developing and implementing the educational supports needed to ensure the success of such initiatives; and/or
  • engaged in research related to TBC and its influence on the broader social determinants of health, healthy communities, and community engagement.

Panel Presentation: Tuesday, November 2, 12:00-1:00 pm
The first network event is on November 2 and includes a panel presentation on work currently being done to support team-based care. Panel members are from the Innovation Support Unit in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, UBC Continuing Professional Development, and the BC Primary Health Care Research Network. The presentation will be followed by a discussion around the types of questions that remain unanswered and how the TBC@UBC Network might contribute to finding solutions, given the role of UBC in education and scholarship. Join the network to receive the Zoom details for the event.
