Mid Course Feedback

If you are having trouble figuring out what to ask and what tools to use for mid course feedback, the LFS Learning Centre can help. Final Notice: Course Expense Fund Requests due today, Oct 15

Teaching an undergraduate course in Term 2 (Jan-April 2021)?  Email your completed form to virginia.frankian@ubc.ca by today, October 15.

  • Course Expense Fund: For course expenses other than photocopying (e.g., laboratory supplies, field trip expenses, etc.), send in a request now if you plan to claim reimbursement later. 

All course expenses claimed must have a pre-approved budget or your reimbursement claim will not be processed.
 
Find form and details at “Finance”. Look under Forms, then click the link next to Teaching-Related Funding for more information. The form is at the Course Expenses Fund (MS Word) link.

Workday HR & Finance Office Hours – Today

The LFS HR and Finance teams are continuously striving to best support you as you get ready for Workday Go-live on Nov 2! As such, we have organized weekly “Office Hours” with HR & Finance team members. The purpose of these sessions is to provide you a channel to raise any questions you may have after attending Workday webinars or self-learn sessions.

Mitacs Postdoctoral Fellows Opportunities

Mitacs is pleased to announce the return of two popular postdoctoral research and training programs this fall.

1. The Mitacs Accelerate Industrial Postdoc provides one, two or three years of funding — valued at $55,000 per year — for a postdoctoral fellow. This special initiative offers better leveraging than standard Mitacs Accelerate internships to:

  • Build a longer-term collaboration with a company or not-for-profit organization
  • Apply their expertise to real-world problems
  • Connect with a potential employer

2. Mitacs Elevate provides two years of postdoc funding valued at $60,000/year plus extensive customized professional development training ($7,500/year non-cash value).

Postdocs:

  • Develop business-ready skills in leadership, financial literacy, management and negotiation, project management, problem solving and much more
  • Key deadlines
    • January 13, 2021 — Intent to apply and conflict of interest declaration deadline

Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) Thematic Conference

Advances and Controversies in Nutrition and Diabetes is a virtual conference that will be held over two half days. It will explore advances and controversies in the nutritional management of diabetes through exposure to research and practice perspectives. Attendees will participate in a “real time” experience, including live Q and A, a Virtual Poster Expo, exhibits, networking, and much more. View the conference program here.

Call for Abstracts
The CNS Thematic Conference is an ideal opportunity to highlight and present nutrition-focused research, particularly as it relates to nutrition and diabetes, in the form of virtual posters.  CNS is pleased to invite thematic conference attendees (including Students/Trainees) to submit an abstract.
