Nominate an Outstanding Student, Faculty Member, or Staff as an Unsung Hero

President Santa Ono is looking for “Unsung Heroes” – outstanding students, faculty and staff who are helping the university achieve its goals, helping out in the community, or otherwise going above and beyond to make the world a better place.

Unsung Heroes will be featured in Santa’s weekly video address.

December 2021 Exam Schedule (21W Term 1) Now Available


Attention instructors: if you requested a final exam for December 2021, the Final Exam Schedule is now available in three places:

  1. Online (Tip: leave a space between the course code and number for this to display correctly – http://students.ubc.ca/enrolment/exams/exam-schedule)
  2. SSC (Student Service Centre)
  3. FSC (If the course has an exam, the date is visible under the class list area. When you select your courses, the exam date is to the right of the instructor name.)

Please review to confirm that any requests are accurately reflected in this schedule and email lfs.scheduling@ubc.ca immediately with any mistakes or omissions. It is important that any errors be corrected as soon as possible to avoid confusion and scheduling challenges. Thank you for your cooperation!

 

 

 

Workspace Decommissioning

A reminder that Workspace 2.0 is being decommissioned and will be end-of-life, this coming Friday, on October 29, 2021 was sent out to all users.
 
For more information about the decommissioning of Workspace 2.0 and the various storage solutions that UBC offers, please visit: hxxps://it.ubc.ca/storage The webpage includes a link to a step-by-step guide for migrating files from Workspace to Microsoft OneDrive.
 
If you have questions or need assistance with migrating your files, please contact the Learning Centre at it@landfood.ubc.ca. After October 29, 2021, any files remaining on Workspace 2.0 will be permanently inaccessible.

Nov. 15 – IAFNS Science Innovation Showcase – Call for Abstracts

The Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences is welcoming abstracts from innovators to present their work as part of an exciting virtual Science Innovation Showcase set for December 14-15, 2021. This unique event will bring university, industry, venture investment, non-profit and government experts together to share breakthrough ideas. 

Abstracts can be submitted to showcase@iafns.org by November 15, 2021.

Dec. 1 – DFC Nutrition Research Funding Program – Call for Proposals

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) is launching its Call for Proposals for the 2023-2024 competition as part of the Nutrition Research Funding Program. Letters of Intent must be submitted no later than December 1st, 2021 for consideration for funding, starting in January 2023, at dairyresearch@dfc-plc.ca. Documents and additional information are available on the web page program.
 
You can consult the DFC’s updated research priorities for the next five-year period under the Dairy in Human Nutrition and Health area here.
 
Note for scientists who currently have a project funded by the program: If your project is scheduled to end by December 2022, you are eligible for this competition.
