Midterm Course Evaluation

Midterm course evaluation provides a great opportunity to get a pulse on your course.  Students’ feedback is especially important in the online learning environment.  Please note that midterm course evaluation is mandatory in LFS. You are strongly encouraged to include questions on student workload and areas that have gone well and areas for improvement.

Course Expense Fund Requests – due October 15

Teaching an undergraduate course in Term 2 (Jan-April 2021)? Send in your detailed course expense requests now.

Email your completed form to virginia.frankian@ubc.ca by October 15. All course expenses must be requested and approved prior to the start of each term.

Expendable laboratory supplies, field trip expenses, and other expenses directly addressing course learning objectives are eligible.

To be reimbursed, expenses must be itemized and pre-approved or your claim will not be processed.

Find form and details at “Undergraduate Course Expense Request Form”. Note that students should not be charged course fees for any LFS courses.

2020 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize Competition

The Postdoctoral Fellows Office is pleased to announce that the 2020 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize Competition is now open.

This award is an opportunity to recognize and reward UBC’s postdocs. The Killam PDF Research Prize is funded by the generous donation of Izaak Walton Killam and his wife, Dorothy Johnston Killam, who together created the Killam trusts. This initiative clearly demonstrates UBC’s recognition of the critical role played by PDFs in advancing the quality and excellence of our research.

The Killam PDF Prize will be administered through the PDFO and all nominations are to be forwarded to postdoctoral.fellows@ubc.ca.

The nomination deadline for submission to the PDFO from the respective Deans’ offices is Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM PST.

Deans, nominators and nominees will be apprised of the status of their nominations by April 1, 2021.

Call for Nominations: The John McNeill Excellence in Health Research Mentorship Award

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has issued a call for nominations for the John McNeill Excellence in Health Research Mentorship Award, offered annually to an eligible faculty member in any of UBC’s health-related disciplines at the Vancouver campus.

MFRE Speaker Series – Today

Speaker: Nima Salmani, Director, Lyft Commodity Trading Ltd.
Topic: Introduction to the Structure of Negotiation
Date & Time: Tuesday, October 6, 5:45pm – 7:15pm

Nima will give an introduction to the structure of negotiation from a practitioner’s point of view. Through small cases, students will follow the process of negotiation in a bilateral and multilateral setting. The talk is not specific to the agricultural industry.
