The University of British Columbia is the latest university to request programme approval through IUFoST. The UBC programme submitted has been approved by the Education Panel at the international level and their achievement will be acknowledged at the 21st World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Singapore.

Today – Lunch & Learn Series: Drop-in Session to prepare for the First week of the new school term

The LFS Learning Centre will be hosting a drop-in session on Friday, September 2 2022 at noon. The Learning Centre team will focus this session on ensuring all instructors’ questions are answered before the new term starts and discussing some ways in which instructors can build a sense of community in their courses early in the term.

For this session, the Learning Centre team invites instructors to bring their tips, team building challenges and icebreakers to discuss how they have built a sense of community in their courses.

Sept. 6 – Imagine Day

UBC’s annual orientation day, Imagine UBC, will be taking place on Tuesday September 6th as we welcome all new and returning students back to campus.

The LFS Undergraduate Society and LFS Student Services will be hosting a lunch for all new-to-LFS students, and would also like to extend the invitation to our staff and faculty. Lunch will take place in MCML Courtyard from 12:15pm – 1:30pm. This is a great opportunity for you to engage with new students and student leaders in our Faculty. If you would like to join us for lunch on Imagine Day to get to know our new students, please come to MCML Courtyard during the time listed above.

The deadline is September 9th and no late submission will be considered.

Sept. 9 – Call for volunteers from our LFS graduate and faculty member community – Chancellor Reappointment Committee

As you may know, Chancellor Steven Point is approaching the end of his first three-year term and is being considered for reappointment – alumni UBC is responsible for executing the reappointment process including managing the establishment of the Chancellor Reappointment committee.

The following positions are still available on the Committee.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 9th

  • (2) faculty members from UBC Vancouver
  • (1) graduate student from either UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan
