BCKDF funds announced for LFS researchers

Congratulations to the following LFS recipients of the BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF). These investments allow researchers to create new and innovative technology that will improve the lives of people throughout B.C.

  • Environment Economics Research Unit led by Frederik Noack.
  • UBC Nutritional Epidemiology and Big Data Analytics Laboratory led by Mahsa Jessri
  • Controlled-Environment Facility for Crop Pathology and Genetics Research (CEF-CPG) led by Gurcharn Singh Brar.
  • Integrated SOILRES platform for advanced study of soil processes driving agroecosystem resilience under climate change led by Jean-Thomas Cornelis.
  • Automated growth and screening platform for elucidating crop water requirements led by Thorsten Knipfer.

CFI JELF funds – Andrea Frommel

Congratulations to Andrea Frommel as hers was among 20 UBC-led projects awarded funding through Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF). These funds help retain outstanding researchers by helping acquire the state-of-the-art labs, equipment and facilities. Andrea’s project is titled Integrated Climate Change and Aquaculture System (ICCAS) for Multi-stressor Experiments on Commercial Juvenile Fish.

Oct. 11 – Call for proposals: Nutrition North Canada Food Security Grants

The Food Security Research Grant will support Indigenous-led projects addressing food security and food access inequality in communities eligible under the Nutrition North Canada (NNC) program. The grant supports research that will address critical data gaps and increase the evidence base with respect to food access inequality, the dynamics of existing federal food access programs and food insecurity among Indigenous Peoples living in isolated communities.
