Workplace Learning: Leading Change and Caring for Others on Sept. 30
All faculty and staff are invited to a one-hour, collaborative online session to gain skills in coping with change.
 
About the session:
 
If you are leading a team through change as a manager/supervisor, or looking at how to manage through change yourself – you are welcome to join the Leading Change and Caring for Others workshop. Discuss the stages of transition a team may encounter as they navigate change, and how you can support and guide others through the lens of wellbeing and mental health.
 
This session will help you to: Understand your own reactions to change Understand UBC’s approach to change Identify how you can lead a team through transitions Gain an introduction to tools that support sustaining change Learn steps to foster and maintain good mental health and resilience in teams during change The workshop will be hosted by UBC HR’s Organizational Change + Transition team and Workplace Wellbeing team. This is the third workshop in a series focusing on building capacity and strengthening resilience for change.

Innovation UBC 2020 Venture Idea Competition
Innovation UBC is proud to launch the second edition of its venture idea competition and education sessions, which will be hosted entirely online via Zoom. 

We encourage UBC researchers with an idea for a start-up based on their UBC research in the physical sciences to enter. Ideas are welcome from a wide range of areas including transportation, energy, food and agriculture, advanced materials, artificial intelligence and many more. Ideas may focus on offering solutions to key societal or economic challenges, such as innovations aimed at addressing digital security, the post-COVID economy and climate change.

Bike to Work Week – Sept 28-Oct 4
Bike to Work Week returns this fall from Sept 28-Oct 4. Take part in this community event to celebrate bike commuting across Metro Vancouver!

Simply by logging a bike trip, you will be entered into daily prize draws and the grand prize of an adventure for two to Portugal including flights with Exodus travel. Your trips also help local leaders to improve cycling infrastructure in your communities. Be part of the change and help make Metro Vancouver a happier, healthier place to live, work, and play!

Register here, and be sure to join the UBC Faculty of Land & Food Systems team! (Organization name: University of British Columbia – UBC). If you participated in a previous year, then simply sign in and log a trip!

There will be dozens of ‘Knowledge HUBs across the Metro offering basic bike maintenance, prizes, and cycling information. There will also be free online webinars throughout the week on topics such as ‘Introduction to city cycling’ and ‘Injury Prevention for Cyclists and Bike Fit Tips’.

Remember that all bike trips count! Even if you’re not commuting to the office, a leisurely lunch time or evening ride can still be logged.
